Raw acoustic soul rooted in Georgian Bay. Available for weddings, private events, and intimate venues across Ontario.
Matt Playne grew up in Midland, Ontario — cottage country that insists you slow down and pay attention. His mother's love of Phantom of the Opera put music in his ears early, and by high school he was writing original songs that traded theatrics for honesty.
At 16, he finished in the top 50 of the final season of Canadian Idol. He went on to study music at the University of Western Ontario, recording his first album of originals while there, and cutting his teeth on Toronto's live circuit — playing the El Mocambo, the Rivoli, and the Hard Rock Cafe at Canadian Music Week. His sound draws from City and Colour's quiet intensity, Chris Stapleton's raw soul, and the anthemic pull of Mumford & Sons — acoustic at the core, direct in delivery, and built for rooms that go quiet when the music starts.
Whether it's a 200-person wedding reception or a packed listening room, he shows up the same way every time: prepared, professional, and there to make your night unforgettable.
Ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception sets tailored to your day and your story.
Product launches, galas, and client events that leave a lasting impression.
Milestone birthdays, cottage weekends, and intimate celebrations.
He read the room perfectly. Our guests were completely captivated from the first note. More than one person asked us for his contact info that night.
The music was the thing everyone talked about after. Soulful, real, and genuinely moving. We'd book him again without a second thought.
